It’s that time of year again, the time when school is about to start and we get to celebrate all the acceptances that have come for students in our programs. After hosting our Breaking the Law conference, it is only fitting that we get to share all our law school acceptances for this school year. Our students have been accepted to almost 40 different law schools across the country! Some of these schools include Stanford, Georgetown, Yale, and the University of Pennsylvania Law school. (To view the complete list, go check it out on our instagram @wearebarrierbreakers)

The path to law school is not an easy one; especially for first generation college, or law school students. In our law advising program, 95% of our students will be the first lawyer in their family. That's why we have a career path focused on Law and Public Policy. We aim to help as many first generation and low income students pursue their dreams of law school because everyone should have the opportunity for the education they desire. We have 7 incredible advisors that have over 90 years of combined experience. Our law advisors provide 1 on 1 guidance, essay bootcamps, Pro Bono advising, and essay editing. At Barrier Breakers®, we believe every student deserves access to outstanding admissions support, no matter their background, race, or financial situation. Our team of former admissions deans, admissions directors, and professional writers provides high-quality advising to help students achieve their goals. As a nonprofit organization, we further our mission by offering scholarships and discounted services to first-generation students and those facing significant financial need.

Another avenue through which we support students is through our mentorship program. College and grad school can be a new and big change in life. This is especially true for students who have not had an example and have to create their own path through these changes. That's why we also have our mentorship program. This program partners highly qualified mentors with students who are seeking extra guidance in their college and life journey. Our mentors have experience in areas including law, healthcare, business, STEM, public service, and sustainability. We have many who are first-generation graduates themselves and so they  understand firsthand the challenges and obstacles that can come with being a first generation student. Our mentors help students navigate academic decisions, career exploration, identity, transitions, and life adjusting to college. Many of our students who have come through the program have said that the mentorship program has truly helped them because of how much the mentors care. They are there for the students during the good, the bad and everything in between, making the relationship invaluable to a students.
